1. Parents - The children take after their parents. So your health and weight has a direct effect on your child. If one of their parents is overweight, children have 25% probability of becoming overweight themselves. This probability rises to 50% if both the parent are overweight.
2. Encouragement - No one likes to be ridiculed or made fun of. Speak to your child compassionately. You should encourage him to lose weight and not demand it from the child. You should keep the attention of the child on healthy foodstuff that he likes and gradually reduce the unhealthy one. For example you can encourage him to eat fruit salad instead of ice-cream.
3. Eat healthy together - You can change the diet of your whole family into healthy one. Children prefer to have frequent healthy meals with their family than eating alone. Also you need to keep all the calorie rich items away and fill your refrigerator with fresh fruits, nuts, low-fat cheese in case your child wake up for a midnight snack.
4. Have a healthy Breakfast - You should have a breakfast with foodstuff rich in protein, starch and low fats. Weight loss is much more difficult in a child who skips breakfast as their metabolism decreases.
5. Do physical activity as a Family - Make some time for doing some physical activity with your child. You can go for a half hour walk with him at night or play in the evening. You can also enroll your child in any sports or other activities which he would enjoy while burning the calories.
